Awards & Event Etiquette

  • Please stay or return for awards, even if our performance wasn’t the best. Experiencing both wins and losses helps athletes grow.
  • Support at least one other Zia Cheer team while you’re at the event. A loud, positive crowd means so much to our athletes.
  • All parents and family members ages 10+ must purchase a spectator ticket. Tickets are typically available online or at the door.
  • Athletes must remain in full uniform for awards—this is how they enter the awards ceremony for free.
  • Watch other gyms in your athlete’s division or level. Seeing how other teams perform helps athletes understand scoring, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Celebrate every finish. Every event is a chance to learn, grow, and support each other—win or not.


Supporting Your Athlete on Competition Day

  • Competition days can be emotional. Athletes may be nervous, excited, or upset—especially if something doesn’t go perfectly.
  • Keep the morning stress-free. A calm, positive start helps them perform their best. Also please be sure they eat something before - nothing too heavy.
  • Be encouraging and patient. If they make a mistake, they may feel disappointed. Your support matters most.
  • This is our first competition. We are not expecting everything to hit 100%. The goal is progress, not perfection.
  • Celebrate their effort. No matter what happens on the mat, remind them you’re proud of them.

  • Venue Rules / Policies

    The following items are prohibited by the venue: 


    Food or beverage, weapons, alcohol, tripods, cameras with telephoto lenses, pets, coolers/flasks, laser pointers, umbrella’s, skateboards, roller skates, bikes and scooters. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. 


    Because we take the safety and security of our participants seriously, our policy is to protect your privacy and that of all participants. Video cameras and still cameras WILL BE allowed during performances. However, cameras with telephoto lens will not be allowed. 

  • Hotels

    When planning accommodations for the upcoming competition, there are several nearby hotels to consider. While we don't have specific recommendations, Competition Travel specializes in securing hotel rates for cheer events. You can explore their offerings by clicking the button below. Ensure your dates are accurate when booking.


    For those on novice or prep teams, staying overnight on the night before the comp is advisable. 


    Competitions often begin at 8 a.m., with novice teams typically scheduled shortly after and prep teams mid-morning. 


    Schedules can change, and exact times will be confirmed the week of the competition..
